The Pledge Program is open to all students, including all first year students. The Pledge Period is a time of introduction to Alpha Phi Omega and its members.
It consists of meetings with the Pledge Master and Assistant Pledge Master, and there is absolutely no hazing (in fact, the Pledges are usually treated
better than the actives.)
The requirements include, but are not limited to, 12 hours of service during the semester (within at least 3 different projects, one of which is the Pledge Service Project),
participation in the planning of either the Pledge Service Project or the Pledge Fellowship Project, interviews of active members, advisors and other pledges, and passing the pledge
test. The Pledge class also participates in activities to get to know one another and build team skills. Examples of past Pledge Service Projects include Zoo Clean-Up,
preparation for Christmas at the Zoo, and Sr. Citizen Senior Proms.
At the beginning of the Pledge Period (Initiation) there is a fee of $35, which covers pledge expenses, books, and supplies. Once Activated, there is a one-time $45 fee. To remain active, it is $35 a semester, or $60 a year. Alpha Phi Omega has one of the lowest
membership fees on campus!
As an Active of the Beta Beta Chapter, you will be required to attend weekly meetings, which are held on Sunday evenings, and fulfill a minimum amount of
service and committee hours. With over 20 different service projects (on average) each semester, and nearly as many fellowship opportunities, you can easily
fulfill Active requirements.
If you choose to pledge Alpha Phi Omega, and fulfill the above requirements to enter Active Membership, you will be a part of a very rewarding experience with
the largest Fraternity in the world! We invite you to consider joining Alpha Phi Omega, and look forward to greeting you as an active member of the
Beta Beta Chapter.
